Hindustan Motors Ambassador is a vehicle designed and developed by HM of India and has been in production since 1958 with few changes or enhancements. It’s based on Morris Oxford III vehicle, originally designed and engineered at Cowley, Oxford from 1956 to 1959 in United Kingdom by Morris Motors Limited. In spite of its British origins, it is regarded as the definitive Indian vehicle and is affectionately known as The King of Indian Roads. Currently, Ambassador is designed and developed at Uttarpara facility near Kolkata, West Bengal by Hindustan Motors and used by some prominent Indian politicians, Sonia Gandhi.
