Headquarters of this company are located in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. Since 1966, company has been wholly owned subsidiary of VW Group.

 

Volkswagen is the largest shareholder in Audi AG as company holds around 99 percent of share capital. The tagline of Audi is ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ which means ‘Progress through Technology’. But, recently, company has updated their tagline to ‘Truth in Engineering’ for the U.S. automotive market.

 

The logo of this famous maker is four – overlapping rings which clearly represents the four – brands of auto union. This logo is quite similar to the Olympic rings. Audi is the strong partner with different types of sports such as football. The Audi A4, A5 and Audi Q5 are some of the bestsellers models in the history of Audi.

 

These ranges help to maintain their high – reputation in the global automobile market. Currently, Audi has approximately 6 – production plants which are situated in several cities such as Ingolstadt, Neckarsulm, Gyor, Aurangabad, Changchun, and Brussels. Audi is the largest manufacturer in Africa, Middle East and Estern Europe.

 

But, China is the key market for this leading brand. Audi is the biggest contributor to its parent Volkswagen Group. It is the producer of 100 percent galvanized cars which prevent corrosion. In the earlier generation of TT and A3, Audi used Torsen – based system but its latest range is available with new Quattro badge.

 

The Audi TT, Audi R8, and Audi A2 are available with Space Frame designs. Currently, company is selling various ranges like Audi A1, A3, A4, A5, A6 , A7, Audi TT, Q5, and Q7. Now, Audi is promoting their latest multitronic variable transmission. Audi is focusing on the system of e - tron electric drive powertrain.

 

During the initial part of 21st century, Audi is all set to rule the German racetrack and to maintain the various World records like Top Speed Endurance.

 

Audi History

 

The history of Audi is really interesting which included several stories. With the help of their logo, company symbolizes four – formerly independent makers of vehicles such as DKW, Horch, and Wanderer. Each ring which is included in the logo represents them.

 

On 14 November, 1899, this company was established by the August Horch.

 

In the year 1910, the first model which was launched under this brand was the Audi Type A 10 / 22 hp Sport Phaeton in Zwickau. In its entire history, this company had only single recall which was generated due to the unintended acceleration problem.

 

But, from the year 2002, sales of the company again grew because numbers of buyers are increasing from 653,000 to 1,003,000. After recall, company had done several modifications. Audi Union was the first range of this brand which became the first European vehicle that combined with the front – wheel drive and 6 – cylinder engine.

 

From 1990, this manufacturer was competing with several other automotive brands like BMW and Mercedes – Benz. To start this rivalry, Audi launched the range of Audi V8.

 

The Audi 100 / 200 range was available in the vehicle market from 1968 to 1994 and hence, considered as the longest running car of vehicle market.

 

The Audi Front UW225 and Audi RS2 Avant were having least market life such as 1933 to 1934 and 1994 to 1995 respectively.

 

From the year 1999, company manufactured the Audi R8C and the Audi R8R especially for the sports car racing. Audi is the first automotive manufacturer who develops the space for Home, Online based Community Service.

 

In the year 2009, company was busy with the promotion of their diesel technology.
