There is good news for BMW fans in India as the automaker is planning to launch its BMW Z2 in the Indian market within a very short time. The decision to launch this car in India has been taken based on the unprecedented success that the BMW Z4 has achieved in this country. The car, which is a two-seater, is going to be provided with the same chassis and components that have been incorporated in the Z4, but the car design is much smaller.
As far as the engine of the BMW Z2 is concerned, it has been provided with four cylinders as compared to six cylinders that the Z4 features. The car has been provided with a direct injected 1.6L engine, which has been blessed with the capability of delivering 150Bhp maximum power. It is also expected that the car might be provided with an alternate 2.0L M-tuned variant engine, also having four cylinders. The engine not only comes with a manual transmission option but has also been provided with a twin clutch gearbox.
The car has been provided with a chassis that is same as the Z4 and has been provided with struts at the front while its back has been provided with a multi-link setup. The car is going to achieve a peak speed of 240kmph whereas it cruises to a speed of 100kmph from standing position within 7 seconds. Another remarkable feature of the BMW Z2 is its top roof that has been made very soft for optimizing the weight of the vehicle. Adequate space has also been provided within the car.
Figures of fuel efficiency of the BMW Z2 with respect to Indian road conditions are yet to be known.
The BMW Z2 has been provided with excellent interior features. This includes an air conditioner that has been equipped with the feature of climate control. It also includes central locking operated with remote, reach and rake steering adjustment, power windows along with a music system that has been integrated with the dash.
Safety features that have been provided in the BMW Z2 include traction control, airbags, fog lamp and parking sensors. Aspects of safety have been comprehensively addressed as the car has been provided with ABD along with EBD. A program for electronic stability has also been provided.
